Choose the direction and enter the power in the selected unit. Copy the result when an optical or radio specification uses the other unit.
Example: −10 dBm is 0.1 mW; 0 dBm is 1 mW; 10 dBm is 10 mW. A 3 dB change is close to, but not exactly, a factor of two.
Negative dBm is valid; zero or negative mW is rejected. dB without the m describes a ratio, not an absolute power. Small results may use scientific notation.
