Calculator inputs stay in your browser. Operational web requests are logged by the server.

Calculator inputs

Calculations run locally in JavaScript. Input values are not uploaded, saved in browser storage or placed in page URLs. The copy button writes your selected result to your clipboard only when you press it. Leaving or reloading a page clears its working inputs, subject to normal browser form restoration.

Cookies and third parties

The site uses no analytics scripts, advertising code, marketing cookies, external fonts or fingerprinting. Theme colors follow your system preference unless you choose Light or Dark. Only that theme choice is saved in local browser storage; calculator inputs are never saved there. The tools also work when browser storage is blocked. External reference links take you to sites with their own policies. Email is handled by the operator’s email provider when you choose to contact us.

Network diagnostics and IP display

Looking Glass sends the destination and query type to the PJH-Tech server only when you run a query. Ping, traceroute and MTR send probes from the server to the chosen destination. Hostnames and DNS lookups are sent to resolver 1.1.1.1; BGP and optional prefix/ASN lookups send the requested address or prefix to RIPE NCC. The IP display itself uses only your connection to this site.

Diagnostic request bodies and results are not written to application logs. RIPE results may be cached in server memory for 60 seconds. Rate-limit identifiers are salted hashes kept in a bounded in-memory list and reset when the service restarts. Results remain in the page until you leave or reload; copying, downloading or sharing a query is your choice. Query links keep their parameters in the URL fragment, which is not sent in HTTP requests.

Server logs

nginx records client IP address, request path, time, response status, transferred bytes, browser user-agent and referring page where supplied. Query strings are omitted from the configured access-log request field. Do not put confidential information in URLs. Error logs may contain request details when a failure occurs.

Logs support troubleshooting, abuse investigation and approximate traffic statistics. Raw access and error logs are rotated daily and retained for approximately 30 days, with rotated files compressed. Access is restricted to server administration. The private GoAccess report masks displayed IP addresses and excludes recognized crawler traffic; unknown bots can still affect visitor estimates. Reports are regenerated from retained logs and are not a permanent analytics archive.
