Check the operational state before changing a Cisco configuration. These references concentrate on IOS XE, with Catalyst switching and router-specific features clearly separated. They do not treat ASA, NX-OS or IOS XR as interchangeable command sets.

Read-only results link to an individual observation command. Other commands on the same page can have different effects.

How to use these references
For a Layer 2 path, inspect the physical interface, access or trunk role, VLAN forwarding and spanning-tree state. Check EtherChannel membership before investigating a single member as an independent link. Use CDP or LLDP with ARP and MAC learning to locate a device through the topology.
For routed traffic, check the correct VRF and route, then compare forwarding information and the routing-protocol state. An established BGP neighbor or an OSPF adjacency does not prove that the destination prefix is available. ACL and NAT references help follow one connection without clearing counters or translations.
Examples use named ports, VLANs and addresses that you must replace. Read the platform notes when a field is missing: counters and hardware behavior vary by Catalyst model and software release. Each article explains the useful observation and the conclusion it does not justify.
Look up an IPv4 route in Cisco IOS XE, select the correct VRF and inspect CEF forwarding. Separate routing-table evidence from end-to-end reachability.
Inspect IOS XE IPv4 NAT translations and statistics without clearing sessions. Follow a single flow and distinguish NAT state from successful connectivity.
