If a copied wireless command returns a menu or property error, check whether this router uses /interface/wifi or /interface/wireless. The two command families are not interchangeable.
Use the menu supplied by the installed package
| Installed package | Configuration menu | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| wifi-qcom | /interface/wifi | Qualcomm Wi-Fi 6 / 6E |
| wifi-qcom-be | /interface/wifi | Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 |
| wifi-mediatek | /interface/wifi | Supported MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 / 7 |
| wifi-qcom-ac | /interface/wifi | Supported Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5 models |
| wireless | /interface/wireless | Legacy radio stack |
Wi-Fi 5 is the awkward boundary: package availability depends on the chipset, architecture and device. An ac product name alone is insufficient. Package changes can require a configuration migration; do not uninstall a working driver remotely just to make a copied command available.
/system/package/print
/interface/wifi/radio/print detail
/interface/wifi/print detailSet 40 MHz on a supported 5 GHz WiFi radio
For the example below, confirm that /interface/wifi/radio/print detail lists 5 GHz ax support. Use the radio’s actual interface name.
For a compatible 5 GHz radio named wifi1, the following limits maximum width to 40 MHz and sets the installation country to Finland. Apply only at a Finnish site and with a wired management path; a radio change disconnects clients.
/interface/wifi/set wifi1 configuration.country=Finland channel.band=5ghz-ax channel.width=20/40mhzUse a country and channel permitted at the installation site. DFS channels can pause transmission for a channel-availability check or change after radar detection.
BSSID and connect-list: do not borrow legacy commands
For a legacy station BSSID restriction, use /interface/wireless/connect-list. The current /interface/wifi menu has no equivalent connect-list; changing mac-address changes this interface’s own MAC and does not select the remote AP.
The legacy /interface/wireless/connect-list controls station connection selection and can match a remote AP MAC. Rules are checked from top to bottom; the first matching enabled rule applies. If none matches, the interface’s default-authentication setting controls whether other compatible APs may be used. An AP access-list instead controls clients joining the AP. Restricting a station to one BSSID removes failover when that AP is unavailable.
/interface/wireless/print detail
/interface/wireless/connect-list/print
/interface/wireless/registration-table/printRead a slow link
/interface/wifi/registration-table/print detailDuring a local transfer, compare signal, tx-rate and rx-rate before and after the width change. Keep the same client and position. These rates are from the router’s perspective; use the transfer result to decide whether to keep the change.
